Bangkok Fashion Week: Cristiano Burani

Cristiano Burani

Cristiano Burani’s show heralded the start of Bangkok International Fashion Week, which began yesterday in the capital.

We’re lucky enough to have our favorite roving photographer on the scene in at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, scanning the runway for us: the wonderful Varaporn Noothong, who also lensed some of the shows for Dear Velvet last year. Get ready for more stunning images from BIFW14 in the next few days.

We had such a thrilling time, crouched on the floor at the end of the runway together last year, and seeing her on-site reportage today is the next best thing to being there!

I love the pastel shades here, and juxtaposition of crisp and sheer fabrics.

Cristiano Burani, an Italian designer, presented by Digital Fashion Week, has shown his new collection in Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing, Moscow, Berlin and Kiev. A collaborator with Versace and La Perla, he was a medicine and surgery graduate, and as you can see, that precision is evident in his designs.

The pink bias-cut organza skirt, the all-white outfit with a pleated skirt and sheer underskirt combination, topped by a starched button-down; I may have found my new uniform. And the chunky white platforms look like a godsend for hot summer days: chic and made for walking with purpose.

Deceptively simple and simply beautiful… Roll on summer.

Get ready for more summer delights as Bangkok International Fashion Week progresses over the next three days. Can’t wait!
