Backstage Fashion Shows
I can only liken the spectacle and fantasy of a fashion show to the ballet or an opera. Gorgeous colors, lights, makeup, whatever the season or theme, it is really an experience to cherish.
Whether crouched in the ‘photographer’s mosh pit’, as I nicknamed it, sitting almost in the lap of your neighbor (this is how I met the wonderful Varaporn Noothong, a DV Contributor) and wielding lenses like light sabers, jostling for a view, lounging in front of a screen, beverage in hand, or perched as I was at Siam Paragon, in an eagle’s eyrie, hanging from rails, dangling myself from a moving escalator and dashing around to get The Shot, seeing a fashion show is a must.

The spectacle of a Fashion Show is closest to Ballet or Opera
As you can see. I love to experience these things from a different perspective: I gave my audience seat up to a colleague and crouched on the floor, or spent one show literally running, camera in hand, to get the best vantage point. A lot of fun, and totally worth it. Backstage or behind the scenes, the after party, the glamorous attendees, the tears and the kisses; over the next weeks I’ll show you what I saw.
